The latest British Airways anthem commercial ‘To Fly. To Serve’ got a lot of mentions on ad blogs and was discussed on social media platforms. easyJet, the budget airline from UK served one up on British Airways recently through a print ad.

Agency: VCCP

The Awards for National Newspaper Advertising (the ANNAs) in the UK nominated this as the ‘Ad of the Month’ for Sep 2011. While nominating this ad, judge John Roscoe, Innovation Marketing Director, Diageo says:

If you haven’t seen the BA campaign, this ad is well-branded, delivers a clear single-minded consumer benefit and is eye-catching. It delivers the brand manifesto for Easy Jet better than many an internal corporate video. If you have seen the BA campaign, it works harder still and demonstrates the difference between a ‘big fancy overpriced’ airline and a ‘great value’ airline by showing that actions speak louder than words.

I love print ads. And among print ads, topical ads, done well are great fun. And when you add a competitive slant to it, it gets even better. And oh, don’t you love British advertising?
