Google helping women get online

Though India has 200mn internet users, only one-third of them are women. Google India aims to help 50 million additional women get online by end of 2014. The communication consists of videos of two kids: short duration ads which highlight aspects in which women can use the internet to improve their lives and longer duration stories of women’s individual stories on how the internet helped them.

As with the Google Search ads, the initiative to help Chandni Chowk go online, Lets Talk Mo, the Loon project and so many others, such initiatives imbue brand Google with a halo and reinforce their leadership stance.
