Another brand referring to the recessionary times. Another brand attempting to raise hopes. A new ad created by DDB for Volkswagen Passat says, rather sings now is the time for some ‘positive thinking’.
It’s a catchy ad (thankfully not preachy) alright, but not among the best of the Volkswagen ads, in my opinion. They’ve had some bizarre set ups of late, like the Dog Fish (which won a metal at Cannes) but they had some link to the product at hand…some connect back with the story (like in ‘The Fight‘ ad). The link to positive thinking and the claim ‘at least you can be sure’ – with Passat, is at best tenuous. What has it got to do with the price of fish, as they say. Or should I say dog fish?
