I bet most of those who attended the award show night at Goafest, didn’t get to see the nominated work. They were busy partying, you see. Thankfully the ad village put up all the nominations in an air-con hall. Herewith some work that caught my eye:
Thomas Cook
This is almost an insider’s joke – a funny take on the oft-seen visual from fairness cream ads. The ad is for a 3-night, 4-day package in Mauritius, for Thomas Cook. Was this released? The staple ads from travel agencies are the ‘put the offer up on the headline’ direct stuff. Brings a smile to your face, though.
Tata Sky
Touted as a mailer that only cost 60p, the attempt was to convert enquiries into sales. Everything that needed to be said was in the envelope – thus saving time.
Garnier
A simple but effective Outdoor idea for Garnier. Message: protects you from the sun.
Virgin Mobile
The attempt was to convey the idea that not just the number but the caller’s name appears on the screen.
Sanctuary magazine
A regular target for December advertising, this campaign for Sanctuary magazine was created with the baseline, ‘you know what to do’. So popular pleas like ‘Save Plastic’ are given a twist with a ‘fill in the blank’. Wonder what it achieves, except for forcing the viewer to fill in the blanks, in his mind.
