Royal Mail ‘heist’, Delta airport codes and more: creative ideas of the week

There are hundreds of commercial messages vying for our attention everyday across traditional and new media. Only a handful are noticed. Here are a few creative ideas which caught my eye, the week ending 28th July, 2017: Royal Mail UK, Delta Airlines and more.

1. Royal Mail: the heist

Bank heists have been used as a setting for TV spots and print ads in the past but largely with a comical streak. Here is an ad which is serious and aggressive in that context, to drive home the dangers of data theft.

2. Land Rover: traffic puns

Puns of urban traffic terms juxtaposed with the ‘great outdoors’ has been attempted before for selling vacations to automobiles. These set of ads still bring a smile and sit well with the brand image of Land Rover.

3. Delta Airlines: destination codes

Delta Air Lines put up the #DeltaDatingWall in Brooklyn, NYC recently. In its place, the brand has put up a mural of illustrations of various airport codes. Each airport code highlights the destination city characteristics and makes for a great selfie opportunity. The involvement beyond selfies is to ask users on Instagram to try to find these hidden objects to win prizes.
