Every week, I attempt to share a curated list of top new creative ads. This week: ads from StableMoney, s.Oliver, Uber Eats, AXA and more. It’s a small tribute to ad agencies – getting an ad noticed is no mean feat and in today’s cluttered world, even more creditable.
Stable Money: badhte jao
India loves fixed deposits. For decades it has been the default investment option especially when one earns a relatively large amount. It’s seen as a safe, long-term investment with predictable earnings especially as a sure-shot backup for life’s milestones and emergency funds. But it comes with a dowdy image. Many new age financial advisors discourage their clients from relying only on FDs. A new ad from Stable Money, an investment platform personifies FD as a character who literally ‘grows’. It’s a fun, light-hearted, visual way of depicting the benefit and reminded me a bit of the famous ‘Mr. Wind’ ad by Epuron.

Smalls: ‘is cat’
Cat lovers know that cats are more than just pets. They have a special status: their moods, vibe, antics and even their ‘aloofness’ as a personality are celebrated on social media. Smalls, a D2C pet food company created an ‘anthem’ ad of sorts. I loved the quirky, almost ‘incorrect grammar’ style ‘is cat’ tagline which has an all-encompassing tone about cat personality.
S.Oliver: casual since forever
I am not a big fan of AI-driven ad campaigns (with exceptions like the ones for Fiverr). But when there’s a creative idea that warrants use if AI and if done well, it’s got to be appreciated. ‘Heidi Klum meets her younger self’ is the creative idea for a 90s-inspired fashion collection for s.Oliver’s new brand campaign where we see a younger Heidi too.

AXA – Improbable Risks
In chasing our ‘passion’ we all tend to overlook to health risks that are real. AXA, the insurance brand tells two funny stories of protagonists who obsess about stuff like potential zombie invasion, and a dying plant – all while neglectign their health risks. They brought to life our irrational behaviours and the need for health insurance.

Uber Eats: B.U.E
‘What was life like before the internet and the mobile?‘ Sometimes we think of such and wonder how we survived without web search, maps, e-commerce and such like. A new campaign from Australia coins a new term: B.U.E – Before Uber Eats and tells a funny story of ‘what might have been‘.

Breast Cancer Network, Australia: the whole story
The world has made progress in detection and treatment of breast cancer. Stories of survivors abound.
But a survival statistic can never tell us what someone experienced to survive, what breast cancer changed in their life, or what they may still be living with.

A powerful new film, anchored by some fantastic writing and acting, challenges the common perception that people simply go ‘back to normal’ after active breast cancer treatment ends. The powerful, moving monologue is riveting and dramatises the hidden toll of a diagnosis, from destroyed libidos and silent relationship breakdowns to career displacement, brain fog, fear of recurrence and fertility loss.

Telstra: Happy Internetting
We all use the internet differently. A simple, maybe even obvious truth. While some obsesses over sports, others might spend hours on binge watching movies & streaming web shows. A series of 15-seconders bring this idea alive in a quirky animation format that brings a smile.
