TickleMeThink: facilitating ideas on the go for business

R Sridhar, a much respected name in advertising & marketing circles, has recently launched an iOS app called TickleMeThink. The intriguing and creative name doesn’t come as a surprise given Mr. Sridhar’s background. He spent many years at Ogilvy & Mather and is credited with the success of its Direct Marketing division in India. He later turned entrepreneur as Innovation Coach and Partner at IDEAS-RS.

I took it for a spin and here are my thoughts:

In keeping with his core benefit of ‘igniting imagination’, the app will  help you think differently and do things better. By definition, a great aid for those in business – be it a manager, CEO or an entrepreneur. The app will also come in handy with everyday situations – not just restricted to business-related issues. So whether it is an HR issue, a marketing conundrum or a personal goal you can use the app to generate ides. Here’s how it works:

When you open the app for the first time, it gives you an overview and asks you to state the problem. Once you do that you can jot down ideas of your own or seek help in the form of motivational quotations, web search or call a friend.

The features I found most interesting were ‘Jolt’ and Visuals:

Jolt asks you interesting questions that you probably would not have asked yourself otherwise:

What would be the most outrageous thing to try in this situation?

What have you always wanted to try, but was never allowed to?

What if you asked the army chief? What ideas might he suggest?

What ideas would a spiritual leader suggest in this situation?

What ideas will please women?

If you are a new comer in your field and have no past baggage what ideas would you consider?

The visuals tab has unusual pictures from different parts of the world.

Given the plethora of apps on the App Store that focus on entertainment only, it is a pleasure to have an app that not only tickles you but makes you productive as well.

You can download TickleMeThink from the App Store.
