Creative ideas of the week: my picks

Between bookmarked sites and subscribed feeds which showcase advertising, I come across many new creative ideas every week. As with advertising in real life, only a handful are memorable. Here are my picks for the week ending 24th July 2015.

1. Centre for Psychological Research, Shenyang

I don’t know when & where this was released but I remember seeing it recently as a Cannes winner. The simple visual hook of a mobile phone a barrier gets the point across. But as is common practice, three ads when one would have sufficed.

2. Honda genuine parts T-Rex

This sub-category of ‘genuine parts’ is a popular one in automobile advertising and we’ve seen some fantastic creative ideas driving home the point, ‘just because it fits, it doesn’t mean it’s right’. Here’s a visually striking take.

3. Persil breakdancing

Loved the confidence and talent of the kid. The music and dance make it a riveting watch.

4. AT&T – it can wait

The slow, languid pace of the ad in the beginning is almost portent of something drastic likely to happen soon. And it does. After watching the many ads of TAC, Melbourne, I firmly believe that we need to jolt people out of habits like distracted driving or drunk driving.
