Every week I attempt to publish a curated list of best new creative ads. Occasionally I share views on trends in the ad industry. This week, new creative ads from Apple for Mac Mini, a Rakshabandhan related ad from Zomato and more. IKEA: price per moment I have long argued that value for money is mistakenly attributed to be something that is affordable and packs in some features that are available at a higher price point. You see…

Between bookmarked sites, Twitter and RSS feeds which showcase advertising, I come across many new creative ideas every week. As with advertising in real life, only a handful are memorable. What next for the iPod? It has morphed into an internet device so the original, classic mp3-player is no longer as attractive as it was. It shows in the numbers – Apple sold 10.89 million iPods during the quarter ending March’10, representing a one percent unit decline from the year-ago quarter.
Loved this new ‘Vintersaga’ (‘Winter’s Tale) campaign for Volvo. The key message: it takes a special kind of engineering and design to build a car which can handle Sweden’s tough weather conditions, especially in winter. The execution is a montage of the (miserable) weather conditions in Sweden, beautifully shot and set to music. I didn’t understand a word of the lyrics but the visuals drive home the message.

The Reliance Group promoted iStore is running a promotion called Mac to College, in Bangalore. The promo entitles students for a 12% discount on Macbook or Macbook Pro. According to the iStore spokesperson,’many students’ are walking in. And they are not buying it because they can run Windows in it. They are buying it, ‘because its Apple’! Is the Apple halo finally dawning in India?
